“What does it mean to be a sculptor today?”
Three great contemporary sculptors – Richard Deacon from Great Britain, Sui Jianguo from China and Henk Visch from the Netherlands have worked together for years on this question. With their respective works presented in the end year exhibition at Maeght Foundation, their dialogue is about creating an intimate relationship between the work and the individual as well as the relation between their sculptures and the public spaces.
For those of you who had the chance to encounter the magic of the Maeght Foundation during a sunny end December afternoon, there is evidence that light, space and form of such a unique site can only provoke intimate sensations which give ground to new ideas of ‘unmaterialized’ sculptures.
