At PAD Paris, with its 28th edition, a certain idea of the French art of living is written, driven by a curatorial rigor that elevates the everyday object to the status of an artistic discipline. Design emerges from objects of everyday life. Useful. Functional. Creative gestures. The ability to reveal the aesthetic and formal desires of an era. This is what PAD Paris stands for.
Capturing the contemporary spirit in the art world is central to Guillaume Piens, director of Art Paris. The event has established itself by affirming a unique identity: that of an art fair that is both deeply rooted in its own territory and open to the world. And then there is unRepresented. Conceived from the beginning as an alternative to traditional distribution networks, the salon is dedicated to artists who experiment with the photographic medium, and built like an exhibition and composed only of solo shows. A selection of projects that reflect a thriving independent scene, driven by artists and patrons engaged in a direct, dynamic and vital relationship within today’s artistic ecosystem.
The topic of gesture – creative gesture or delicate gesture – travels across these places, considering various practices and works that express a reflection, an idea or meaning. The selected works, at the crossroads of art and craftsmanship, illustrate current issues surrounding craft, and the conversation between tradition and modern creativity.
