today’s inspiration_COS & SOU FUJIMOTO_Forest of Light_Salone del Mobile_Milano_Italy
The breathtaking installation ‘Forest of Light’ by Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto commissioned by COS explores ideas of interaction and perspective; the darkened space is illuminated by towering cones of light that are designed to respond to visitor’s movements. Specially-composed sounds, subtle fog and mirrored walls create an immersive, infinite landscape where the conical spotlights become abstracted trees in a shifting forest of light.
An exceptional experience of simplicity with an incredible effect of calmness, intimacy and hiddenness in the heart of an over-crowed, busy and buzzling Milano during Salone del Mobile 2016.
“Creativity is abstraction” – and Sou Fujimoto is a real master … and a very gentle man. THANK YOU !
“People meander through this forest as if lured by the charm of the light. Light and people interact with one another, its existence defining the transition of the other”. Sou Fujimoto
